Betty White death reports have plagued the Internet today, after recent reports reveal that the Golden Girl has passed away at 94 years old.
Betty White is probably the funniest grandma on television. An ageless beauty that has seen seven decades of prominence in the entertainment industry, White is beloved by young and old. The actress started out as a radio jock but catapulted herself into Hollywood with her wit and energy.
She has starred in several iconic TV shows like the Golden Girls, The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Hot in Cleveland. Betty has starred alongside some of the best actors as well as teen heartthrobs including Carol Burnett, Ryan Reynolds, Sandra Bullock, Bruce Willis, Sigourney Weaver and even Joe Jonas.
The Betty White death reports came as a shock to a lot of people, since the actress just guest starred on an episode of Crowded season 1. However, as it turns out the report is just another celebrity death hoax for this year.
Betty White Death, a Hoax?
The current stories swirling around the Internet right now about White’s death actually came from a 2014 article by satire website, Empire News.
The fake news story in question has the headline “Actress Betty White, 93, Dyes Peacefully In Her Los Angeles Home.” Obviously, the article is a pun referencing to the actress white hair, and she dyed her blonde.
“In a press release from her long-time manager Jeff Witjas, it has been confirmed today that actress Betty White…is not a natural blonde,” the piece read.
The recirculating story had many people fooled into thinking the worse about the actress, and that started the Betty White death rumors. Obviously, these readers failed not only to read the entire article, but also to spot the error in the word “dyed”.
Nevertheless, it’s good to know that the old-and-strong actress is still up to her normal tricks and making people laugh.
