Cleveland Cavaliers News: LeBron James Retires After 2016-17 Season? ‘I’m Next’

LeBron James is arguably one of the best basketball players in history. The NBA has been blessed to witness the King’s reign. However, it seems James will be hanging his jersey soon. Possibly after the NBA 2016 season.

LeBron’s supremacy on court has brought the league to greater heights since he was drafted in 2003. Fans have flocked arenas watching to see him turn the lights out, and at every corner supporters suit up in his jersey. However, following the retirements of several NBA superstars, LBJ has hinted at his possible exit from the sport.

During a recent interview with media, the former number 1 draft pick revealed that he has been contemplating about his retirement.

“It feels like our era is next,” James told reporters, notes

“That’s what it feels like. Me, Wade, Melo (Carmelo Anthony), Bosh. We’re next. We’re on deck. We’re the next group behind those guys.”

The comments come after Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett and Mo Williams announced their exit from the NBA this off-season. Kobe Bryant confirmed his retirement before last season ended, making it his swan song in the league.

“I mean seriously if you look at it we’re the next group, so that’s one of the first things that I thought about, like, once Dirk (Nowitzki), and Vince (Carter), and Paul Pierce decide to go, we’re next.”

While LeBron did not confirm the schedule for his retirement to be next year, after playing in the league for the past 13 years, his exit is imminent.

“You just don’t take it for granted. Every time we come out here, we talk to you guys, step out on the floor we’re going to play this game, we love it, but we’re on deck.”

Cavaliers to Sign Chris Bosh, LeBron James Supports

Aside from his retirement, LeBron also commented about the situation his friend and former teammate, Chris Bosh is facing. Bosh was recently released by the Miami Heat after failing his pre-season physical tests.

“We all know it’s probably a difficult situation for him,” James said.

“(I was) pretty surprised a little bit to hear that the team is just done with him, and then to come out and say it…I just wish the best for him and he has my support.”

NBA Trade rumors suggest the Cavs will be signing Bosh, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

The NBA 2016 season will start on October 25, 2016
