How to Get Away with Murder Season 3 episode 1 answers many questions left hanging during the previous season such as who is Wallace’s (Wes’ dad) killer was and where Frank is.
Show creator Pete Nowak shares in an interview with Variety what can be expected on the premiere of season 3, teasing “We’re going to really go places that we haven’t gone before.”
The first season of How to Get Away with Murder revolved around the murder of college student Lila Stangard who was, as it turns out, killed by Frank (Annalise’s sidekick) to help Sam (Annalise’s husband) cover up his affair with the victim. The involvement of the Keating 5—Annalise’s top five students—made things messier when they tried to prove Sam killed Lila and accidentally ended up killing him the teacher.
To top off the murder list, Annalise’s other assistant, Bonnie also killed Wes’ girlfriend Rebecca because she assumed Rebecca had actually killed Lila.
With all the dead bodies pilling up, the second season grew more complex. The death toll continues to increase with the suicide of Rose (Wes’ mother), which Annalise had triggered, the death of Annalise’s unborn child and the murder of Wallace, Wes’ father.
Frank has also gone missing during the second season, probably because of guilt that he has betrayed Annalise by not telling her about the death of her baby.

One exciting guest starring in the upcoming season is the appearance of Grammy winner, Mary J. Blige who, according to Nowak will be playing an important role in the turn of events.
“It’s not a huge part, but it is a pivotal part to Annalise because we got to see more about her that we didn’t know.”
In addition, Nowak answers some questions left hanging during the last season which will resume four months later.
“The first episode is called “We’re Good People Now,” and I think that’s a mantra for all the characters — it’s four months later, they’re trying to get back to normal and that’s a conflict for them,” he shares.
For one, he says that fans will find out more about Frank’s whereabouts in episode 1 but will continue to be a central figure for the entire season.
Wallace’s shooter will also be revealed in the first episode as well as a side of Wes grieving for his father, despite not knowing him personally.
Love interests for Annalise and Asher and Mikaela as well as some new flings can also be expected.
Nowak says Season 3 will be “more emotional and character-driven. I think we’re really trying to give more air to the character’s personal needs.”
