The dream of playing for the NBA 2016 just might come true sooner than anticipated for Filipino basketball player, Kiefer Ravena.
The young athlete tweeted a photo captioned “Dream come true” last September 13 in what appears to be the try-outs for the LA D-Fenders, LA Laker’s D-League team.
Pursuing the Dream
Ravena, along with teammate Bobby Ray Parks, will not be joining Gilas Pilipinas 5.0 at the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge this September, to pursue the NBA dream, reports Fox Sports Asia.
“Plan ko is to continue my training here in the States. I’m working out here to prepare myself into the next level,” Ravena told FOX Sports while on break from his US training.
Just recently, the 22-year-old guard had the opportunity to play for the Reapers team in the Drew League. Soon after, he was able to play in one of the Air West’s pick-up games against veteran players David Lee and Dorell Wright.
Ravena shares with Fox Sports how blessed he is. He also added that he is just following his dreams while he still has the chance and before it is too late.
Though the chances of the dream coming true might be slim, the Filipino is still determined to fight for it and make his country proud.
What’s Next for Kiefer Ravena
Just recently, Ravena posted on his Instagram account an apparent discussions between him and Dallas Mavericks’ D-League Team, Texas Legends’ President.
In the caption, he asks for everyone to pray for him while he takes the next step toward his NBA dream.
He also thanks Malcolm Farmer and colleagues for the opportunity and says he will prove himself worthy to be there.
It is still unofficial if he will be joining the Texas Legends, but his fans continue to cheer him on, believing in him all the way.
