First revealed during a Twitch stream, and later posted officially to the wiki, Total War: Warhammer will be receiving mod support and Steam Workshop integration right out the gate.
Previously, Creative Assembly said that the game would in fact not have mod support, mostly due to licensing issues, but thankfully they and Games Workshop were able to come to some sort of agreement.
Since this was decided on so close to launch, the Assembly Kit available for Total War: Warhammer won’t be as complete as previous Total War games, but they’ll be expanded upon later in the year.
Furthermore, Creative Assembly is already working with modders to have some mods available when the game launches. The two revealed in the wiki update are as follows:
Magnar is designing a Legendary Lord Start Position Mod; customising start positions so that Legendary Lords will start in different locations from Race Leaders.
Dresden is engineering a Regional Occupation Mod; altering the settlement rules to enable each race to settle every region.
They’re also looking to give advance access to the game and mod tools to anyone who has attended the Creative Assembly Mod Summit in the last 3 years. Seems like they’re going all in with mod support this time around. I wouldn’t be surprised if those Macho Man Randy Savage mods are available within seconds of the game releasing.
