The listing on Wog.ch claims that Battlefield 5, the next entry in the FPS series from developer Dice, will be released on October 26th on PS4, Xbox One and PC, but the most intriguing piece of information is that it will be a tactical shooter set in World War I. The news was revealed by Twitter user Thrillho:

We knew the Battlefield would be making a return to its military days and this will be the first time since Battlefield 2 that the franchise hasn’t focused on a modern or futuristic combat arena. Fan’s of the original games will be delighted in a return to world war arena’s and this will represent the first venture into World War I. We must note that EA and Dice are yet to confirm this.
For me, this is a great piece of news, if proven. The two main franchise’s on the consoles are Battlefield and Call of Duty. Both, of which, have been progressing further away from the basics incorporating more futuristic aspects. Frankly, I can’t be bothered with that. This will represent a much needed break from the norm, whilst also allowing newer generations to understand a bit more about WWI, a century later.
