Getting bored with the current map offerings of the latest Call of Duty? Well, have no fear. Black Ops 3: Awakening is hitting PC and Xbox one in 2 weeks. We’ll just glide past the fact it’s been available on the PS4 since February 2nd; you know how I feel about timed exclusive DLC.
Black Ops 3: Awakening features four spankin’ new multiplayer maps (Skyjacked, Rise, Splash, Gauntlet), and one zombies map (Der Eisendrache). I personally dislike this method of divvying up DLC. I’ve never spent much time with Zombies, and probably never will – unless I get dragged into it by friends. So to have a zombie map stickin’ up the multiplayer offerings isn’t my most favorite thing, but I guess this is the world we live in.
I’m sure there are plenty of people who play every facet of Call of Duty, but I highly doubt everyone does. So I highly doubt I’m in the minority here.
Another thing to consider is that, as we previously reported, there’s a $15 Multiplayer Starter Pack, which is still available until February 29th.
You can buy that and season pass content, according to Activision’s F.A.Q., but you’ll only be able to access the multiplayer portions of the Black Ops: Awakening DLC until you upgrade to the full version of the game.
There’s also a trailer for the DLC featuring none other than Peter Stomare, in which he lives a normal day in the life of Peter Stormare while being followed by a camera crew. I always had the impression that he was a badass, but I never knew the truth until Call of Duty revealed it to me.
The second half of the trailer devolves into a regular old video game trailer, but that first half is gold.
