Bored with the current offerings of Destiny? Worried that it might be months if not years before you have a reason to see the moon again? Don’t worry. Bungie’s got you covered.
Today they revealed that a large expansion would be coming later this year, followed by Destiny 2 in 2017. This follows, to the T, a rumor last month that the sequel had slipped out of 2016, leaving players worried that the extreme gap between content updates might leave their Warlocks and Titans starved and withered. Shambling around old Russia, trying to pick the meat from whatever remained on the corpses of the fallen and the hive. Cabal meat is too stringy, and well Vex, you know, they’re robots. So don’t eat them.
Before both the expansion and the sequel, though there will be a level cap increase with the spring update.
Prior to the holiday break we mentioned a second, larger update slated for Spring. That content release will feature a significant Light increase, a bunch of new gear to earn and equip, and new challenges for PvE players seeking some more fun experiences and replayability.
That’s like a mini expansion in and of itself! Aren’t you excited?
Maybe by the time Destiny 2 rolls out, Bungie will be a well-oiled machine, pumping out enough content and updates to keep players playing indefinitely, forever. Or at least for another nine or so years, until their “ten year plan” has fully come to fruition.
Who knows, the real world may catch up to the fictional one presented by Destiny in that time.
You never know.
There could be a giant sphere hurdling toward us as we speak.
I wouldn’t put it past the universe.
She’s a harsh mistress.
