Pillars of Eternity Patch 3.0 and New Expansion Arriving on the 16th

Pillars of Eternity’s first expansion, The White March Part 1, strutted onto the scene August of last year. The 2nd part finally arrives in just under two weeks. For anyone curious about what the future of the pillars may hold, well Obsidian’s got you covered.

The White March – Part 2 not only adds new content to the Pillars of Eternity universe, but also allows players to experience the conclusion of the stories told in The White March – Part 1, bringing the first epic chapter of Pillars of Eternity to a close. Players will find a variety of new challenges waiting for them in the snowy borderlands of the Eastern Reach, along with new quests, new abilities and a raised level cap, and a new companion: Meneha, the Barbarian.

There was a story trailer a month ago ago, in case you missed it:

Alongside the expansion, Pillars of Eternity will also get a spiffy update, Patch 3.0. This patch has been available since January 21st in a beta form, but come February 16th, it’ll be released into the wild.

The full patch notes can be found on the Obsidian forums, but they’re subject to change before the The White March Part 2 launches.

But for anyone who’d rather just the cliff notes version of the patch dictated to them by Executive Producer, Adam Brennecke, there’s a Youtube video for that, too:

There’s a full announcement on the Steam community forums, as well.

I’ve been putting off Pillars of Eternity for some time now. I think between Divinity: Original Sin, Shadowrun, and Wasteland 2, I was pretty burned out when it came to isometric RPGs by the time Pillars came out, but maybe the time has finally come to dive into the game, and relive the glory days of Baldur’s Gate.

I just need to go to the pet store and pick myself up a pet hamster. I’ll skip the blue facial tattoo.
