Train On! The first ever Pokemon Super Bowl advert is set to be released during the third quarter of Super Bowl 50, and is part of a year-long campaign to commemorate the all consuming behemoths 20th anniversary. According to Fortune reports, the 30-second spot during the Super Bowl may cost advertisers as much as $5 million. Now I can’t really see this being their standard demographic, but hey what do I know!!
In the extended trailer that was released we see trainers around the world honing their skills before competing in a massive arena with Pokemon characters like a Mega Lucario, Charizard, Magneton and Gyarados battling away before you whilst that lazy Pikachu watches from the comfort of a couch. The extended cut is created LA-based agency called Omelet
The Pokemon Super Bowl advert airs at Super Bowl 50 on February 7 on CBS between the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos.
J.C. Smith, who is the senior director J.C. Smith, senior director of Consumer Marketing at The Pokémon Company International had this to say about the advert:
“For 20 years, the Pokémon world has inspired fans to train hard and have fun. This ad is reflective of that passion, and I can’t think of a bigger stage to share this story than the Super Bowl.”
