Evidently, Assassin’s Creed Unity had an easter egg that has taken well over a year to uncover.
Not that Ubisoft didn’t at least try to give everyone a hint back in August:
More surprisingly, there are still people playing the game this long after it came out. Well, I guess people is being a bit presumptuous. There’s at least one, though, and this intrepid player put the puzzle together. The puzzle, as it were, was a set of five cakes hidden throughout Unity. Eat them all and something miraculous happens, and not just my use of hyperbole to describe the reward as miraculous, which technically isn’t miraculous either.
Brett, who evidently is part of the “UbiCentral” Youtube channel, cracked the case. I guess it makes sense for someone who is a big enough fan of the developer to be part of a Ubisoft youtube channel to have discovered this easter egg. I play a Ubisoft game about once every three-to-four years. Since they’re all basically the same in one way or another, their open world games at least, I feel that time frame is a good window to Ubi-reset.
But not Brett, he evidently lives and breaths Ubisoft, and then ate the Ubisoft cake, all five of them to boot.
Here’s a youtube video of him of explaining the easter egg and giving viewers a walkthrough if they want to do it themselves.
I won’t spoil what actually happens when you eat all five cakes, because the payoff isn’t the most disappointing thing in existence. That award goes to Daikatana.
If you don’t feel like dusting off Unity to do the easter egg yourself, well then watch the video.
I never actually bought Unity. I was still flying high after the awesome Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag.
I didn’t feel like disappointing myself.
