Rainbow Six Siege DLC Coming Soon

The Rainbow Six Siege DLC that was scheduled for release on the 12th January has been postponed for Season Pass holders until the 2nd February 2016. The Rainbow Six Siege DLC, entitled Operation Black Ice, will see two new Operators become available. The first two new operators will be from the Canadian Joint Task Force 2 counter-terrorism unit. The DLC will also contain:

  • 1 new map
  • A handful of new weapon skins in all tiers
  • Gameplay upgrades

Over the course of the year Ubisoft are looking to release four scheduled DLC’s. These will, in total, contain:

  • 4 new maps (playable on both online multiplayer and Terrorist Hunt)
  • 8 new operators, with new primary/secondary weapons and unique Gadget
  • New cosmetic items
  • New game modes, events and/or activities

New Maps and modes will be available for free to all players, however  new operators and most weapon skins will need to be unlocked with the in-game currency, Renown, or with R6 Credits.  You can earn more Renown by doing the following:

  • Winning or losing a match
  • Kills / Assists / Revives
  • Ranked matches earns more Renown than Unranked
  • Teammate kill will have a negative impact on Renown earned
  • You can also earn Renown through Daily Challenges or actions like watching tutorials

It is estimated that unless you are a Season Pass Holder or you pay for the Operators that it will take around 25 hours of gameplay to unlock them. Ubisoft base this on the following:

the average FPS player spends 8-10 hours a week playing their favorite FPS (also in-line with our observation during the closed beta), so it should only take between two to three weeks maximum to unlock an operator

In other Rainbow Six siege news it appears Microsoft are releasing a new bundle pack consisting of 1TB Black Xbox One console and a copy of Rainbow Six Siege.
