Yesterday, Sony released a brand new system firmware update for the PS3, which brings the system up to version 4.45. Initially, this update was intended to provide users with additional trophy functionality, as well as provide various stability updates for the system.

Upon the initial release of this firmware update, users began reporting that this update was causing their systems to freeze upon rebooting, essentially bricking the console. Due to a large number of users reporting issues such as this, Sony has now rolled back this firmware update.

In response to this occurrence, PlayStation Europe has applied users with the following message via their official Twitter handle.
