The PS4 is Mainly Focused on ‘Games’ and ‘Gamers,’ says Sony Executive

In a recent interview with Edge, Sony Executive Michael Denny discussed the strategy behind the Playstation 4, claiming that Sony is “looking at making a next-gen console for gamers and made by gamers.”. This comes off the heels of Shuhei Yoshida telling Edge essentially the same exact thing last week. Sony wants to make it very clear, the PS4 is not about hardware, it is about the gamers and games.

In addition, in the interview Denny also teased that there is more yet to be revealed about the PS4. “There’s plenty of time, we’ve got lots of information yet to give out on PlayStation 4. The initial announcement phase that we’re in now is just to explain the vision to everybody. Part of that vision is we have created a console absolutely focused on gamers – and we want that to be gamers in the broadest sense as well. I think to some extent I can ask you to draw your own conclusions.” Fair or not, the stereotypes around the PS3 launch in North America was that it was an expensive piece of hardware lacking games. Sony seems to be doing everything it can not to repeat history with the PS4.

It seems pretty obvious that in the weeks leading up to E3 or at E3 its self we will at the very least be seeing what the PS4 actually looks like, the price, and as well as any other surprises that Sony might have in store. However for right now, the buzzwords around Sony are definitely “games” and “gamers”.
