Uncharted 3 Multiplayer has gone Free to Play
Turn on your PS3 and update your Playstation Store. As of yesterday, Uncharted 3 competitive multiplayer mode has gone Free to Play.
Yes, you can now download Uncharted 3 multiplayer for free, but free does come with a price. If you are not looking to throw down any cash, expect to play only up until level 15 – any additional leveling is going to cost you. Naughty Dog has given two options for those who wish to further their online Drake experience; you can either raise the Level Cap to 25 for $4.99 or for an extra $15 ($19.99) you can say “sayonara” to the level restrictions and play to your hearts content.
Note that only the competitive multiplayer is free to play; co-op modes are not included. However, these modes can be purchased as separate DLC – Co-op Arena is $9.99 and Co-op Adventure is $11.99.
Uncharted 3 Game Director Justin Richmond told IGN that Naughty Dog is just looking to add to the games online community as “easily” as they could, saying that there are half a million players who log in to play Uncharted 3 multiplayer each month and you can join them for free. You can keep playing after you hit level 15, and later on down the line, if you ever decide that you want to spend a little money, then all of the progress you would have earned will be unlocked.
For those of you who already own Uncharted 3 and have played the multiplayer, Naughty Dog has said that your loyalty will be rewarded.
