Bioware has announced that the final two pieces of downloadable content for Mass Effect 3 – Reckoning and Citadel – will be released on February 26th.
While rumors have been circulating about a piece of Mass Effect DLC set on the Citadel for some time now, Bioware only officially confirmed and revealed the DLC via their blog today. Citadel is set to expand Mass Effect’s single player with an adventure that sees Shepard and the cast of the previous games teaming up to take down a conspiracy that stretches “from the glamour of the Citadel’s Wards to the top-secret Council Archives”. The DLC also promises to include post-story content that allows players to “reconnect with your favorite characters from the Mass Effect Trilogy, try your luck at the Citadel’s Silver Coast Casino, blow off steam in the Armax Combat Arena, or explore and furnish Shepard’s own living quarters on the Citadel”.
Alongside the Citadel DLC, Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer is also getting an expansion with Reckoning. Reckoning is set to add a slew of new classes to the game’s multiplayer such as The Geth Juggernaut, Cabal Vanguard, Talon Mercenary, Alliance Infiltration Unit and Krogan Warlord. Alongside these new classes, players will get to up their arsenal with new weapons (such as the Geth Spitfire Assault Rifle, Venom Shotgun, Lancer Assault Rifle) and equipment and weapon mods (such as the Geth Scanner and Assault Rifle Omni-blade).
Of all the Mass Effect DLC since the Extended Cut, Citadel looks like it’s going to Bioware’s biggest and most ambitious addition to the game and send one of modern gaming’s biggest epic trilogies out with a bang.
