‘STAR TREK The Video Game’ – A Co-Op Adventure Coming Late April

Here’s something I discovered a few days ago. On Friday 15th, a press release unveiled a short making of video concerning the upcoming STAR TREK The Video Game, a new co-op experience set in the same universe as 2009′s re-imagined Star Trek movie by Digital Extremes, and will be co-published by Namco Bandai and Paramount Digital Entertainment on April 26th.

Shortly after the film was released, Digital Extremes began work to bring the same universe and adventure to gamers. The game will be concerning the (probably) two most famous Star Trek characters, Kirk and Spock, and how their cooperation will drive on the story. Whether to say this means that STAR TREK The Video Game literally requires two players to work the game, or the whether it figuratively means that one player needs to cooperate with their buddy AI, I cannot say for sure.

At the heart of every ‘Star Trek’ adventure are two unforgettable heroes: Kirk and Spock – and just as their cooperation drives the story of ‘Star Trek’ on screen, it needed to form the core of the video-game experience,” the press release quotes Brian Miller, executive producer of STAR TREK The Video Game.

Kirk is this brash cowboy character, whereas Spock is the exact opposite – and when you break down ‘Star Trek’ to those elements, you had to make a co-op game,” Miller continues. “There was no other game we could possibly make.

Admittedly, I’m not much of a Star Trek fan (not that I don’t like it altogether), but watching this video certainly made feel giddy. Sure, the shooting might be fun, but it’s driving the Enterprise I’m looking forward to the most. April 26th is going to be one heck of a day for Star Trek fans, I think.
